Questions about volunteering for a recruiter position?

My husband is applying in March when he puts on senior airmen. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear a response on if he gets the position or not? What are our chances of getting it? We are probably going to pick a lot of different locations, so we are pretty open with that. But,what do you think?
