What would be an equivalent to 2 years of foreign language in highschool?

It means that you speak at the same level 2 years of school would give you. But really, school does not teach you the language. I had 2 years of Spanish, and I could not say or understand more than, "Hola, mi nombre es Renee, donde esta el ba�o?"
