Do all believers thrust that niggling realisation that no gods really exist to the backs of their minds?

I think we all know (with the possible exception of nutters who fly planes into buildings) that gods are a fiction, so do believers have to keep pushing that realisation to the backs of their minds all the time, try to disregard it, and pretend it's not there?
